Claimed skydiving appointment was her reason for driving so fast; marijuana found in the car but disposed of on scene

A Massachusetts woman was clocked driving 105 mph on Highway 278 during a traffic stop that ended with her arrest over the weekend, according to Polk County Police reports.

Alissa Lynnette Joseph, 28, of a Beverly, Massachusetts address was jailed on Saturday, May 22 around 10 a.m. after police stopped her and two others in a rented silver Toyota Camry with two others alleged to be on the way to a skydiving appointment.

According to the report, Joseph was clocked on Highway 278 near Highway 101 in Rockmart going 105 mph in a 65 mph zone.

Police also reported smelling marijuana in the vehicle, which Joseph and two passengers both blamed on a roach that was left in the car from the previous night.

The passengers were taken out of the car as well and the vehicle searched, with only a small bag of marijuana found in the passenger seat’s rear pocket. Though detained for a short amount of time, police decided to destroy the marijuana in front of the patrol vehicle and let the pair go, and Joseph allowed either to drive the rental car away.

Joseph was charged with misdemeanors for speeding in excess of maximum limits and reckless driving. She was released from the Polk County Jail on a $2,400 bond.
