Mrs. Betty Adams

It is with earnest sadness, as well as the fullness of her loving spirit, that we announce the passing of Betty Jean Thomas Adams.

Betty was born on April 23, 1936 in Cedartown Georgia. She was raised by her mother Tressie Lorena Cooper and father Hall Thomas and, after his death, by her stepfather Floyd “Doc” Cooper. The family included her dearly departed sister Mary Harrell who was a lifelong companion.

As a devoted wife to Reverend Pank Adams, A loving mother to Jeffrey, Tim, and Kristi and attentive Grammy to Hudson and Kian; Betty’s dedication to her family was immeasurable. Her deep love extended to her special cousin Jerry Falvo, along with her niece MIkki Harrell and nephew Danny Harrell.

Betty gave an abundance of love to everyone she came in contact with throughout her 85 years. Among them were the countless patients, healthcare professionals and colleagues that she served as a nurse for over 50 years. It is here where she created kindred alliances including Patsy Bilbo who was so supportive and Nicole Alexander who showed Betty great kindness in her later years.

After graduating from Cedartown High School in 1956, Betty attended the Grady Memorial School of Nursing. She had the distinction of graduating with Honors and went on to become a Nurse Practitioner and Mental Health Counselor, as well as serving as a mentor to countless student nurses. All those who had the pleasure of working with Betty speak of her kindness, diligence and supportive presence. In recent years, this included her role as Lead Nurse at the Cedar Valley Nursing Home.

It was Betty‘s compassion that showed above all. She had a soft spot for animals and could often be found rescuing stray animals and seeing them into loving homes. Her tenderness and gentle way was especially evident around her grandsons, who were the light of her life.

In all her life journeys Betty passionately carried her Christian faith and love of Jesus Christ. She, along with her husband, ministered to so many during their 63 years of marriage.

We are grateful to now carry forth her virtue, strength and enduringly loving heart.

Visitation will be from 2PM until the service hour on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at the Smith & Miller Funeral Home, 1000 North Main Street, Cedartown. Funeral Services will be at 4:00 PM. Interment will follow at Northview Cemetery.

The Smith & Miller Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Betty Jean Thomas Adams.
