Mr. Samuel Paul “Sam” Mason

Mr. Samuel Paul “Sam” Mason, age 102 of Cedartown, passed away Monday, July 12, 2021.

Mr. Mason was born February 16, 1919 in Canton, son of the late Sam Mason and the late Rosie Waters Mason. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served as a medic during World War II. Mr. Mason was a 54-year member of the Rockmart Masonic Lodge #97 and a member of the Cedar Valley Shrine Club.

He was former owner and operator of the Van Wert Pawn Shop; he loved to swap, trade and sale. Mr. Mason was a faithful member of the Victory Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Smith Mason; a daughter, Joyce Key; and a sister, Claudie Chastine.

Survivors include his wife, Janelle Miller Mason of Cedartown; two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Barbara Jean Mason and Larry and Debbie Bedford all of Cedartown; fourteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Mason will be held Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Victory Baptist Church with Rev. Barry Snapp officiating. Interment services will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery of Cedartown with American Legion Brown-Wright Post 12 Honor Guard in charge of military graveside rites and Rockmart Masonic Lodge #97 and the West Georgia Masonic Memorial Club in charge of the masonic graveside rites.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Anthony Smith, Larry Bedford, Doug Stell, Eddie Conine, Vince Altimari and Jonathan Bedford.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 between the hours of 5:00-7:00 p.m.
