Well-known Ringgold High School educator and girls basketball coach, Danny Vest, passed away on May 15, 2021 at his home in Tunnel Hill, Ga.
Danny was a lifelong Tiger who served the Ringgold community for over 30 years. The girls basketball program he developed was well known across the state and produced many collegiate athletes through the years.
He served as assistant principal, athletic director, assistant football coach under the tutelage of Don Patterson and principal Richard Clark. After his tenure at Ringgold, he continued to impact students with his role as a night school director at Georgia Northwestern Technical College in Rock Spring, Ga.
Danny was born in Ringgold on June 28, 1949 to Robert (father-deceased) and Mildred Vest (mother). He is survived by his wife, Glenda Dyke Vest. His son David and wife Sondi along with their children Bennett and Thomas reside in Rockmart, Ga, and his youngest son Jeffrey, his wife Shana and their two children Stephen and Catherine live Marietta, Ga.
He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Jan and Kyle Keys and nieces Laura Keys Smith and Julie Keys Goins of Ringgold, Ga.; his mother-in-law Evelyn Dyke of Knoxville, Tn. along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, please make all donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis Tn. Enriching the lives of all children was of utmost importance to Coach Vest.
To honor his memory, a remembrance service will take place 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Christ Church Presbyterian in Dalton, Ga at 510 S Tibbs Road at 2 p.m. Saturday May 22, 2021.
