The Cedartown Police, Cedartown Fire Department and Redmond EMS had the intersection of West Avenue at the light with College Street blocked off to traffic heading out of town after a car ran into the side of the Polk County Administration Building this afternoon.

Reports came in around 2:30 p.m. that a late model vehicle had run into the side of the building, and emergency personnel rushed to the scene to find an elderly man and a totaled late model sedan having hit the bushes and the wall facing West Avenue.

The driver got onto a stretcher under his own power and was being transported via Redmond EMS to the hospital to be checked out for potential injuries.

Airbags within the car deployed.

Details about what occurred to cause the wreck were not yet available, nor was the driver’s name.

Check back for additional details as they become available this afternoon.
