Jason Walker and his wife Lisa are hoping the community can help him find the right donor to provide him with a new kidney as he hopes to get his life back to normal after learning earlier this year he’d need another transplant after undergoing an operation in 2008.

Walker suffers from Alport’s Syndrome, which is a genetic condition that causes a number of health issues – including hearing and vision impairment – but more acutely in Walker’s case, it damages his kidneys.

The additional issue that Walker faces is that he has type O+ blood, which while universally able to donate to others requires a lot more work to find a donor since only 39% of the population are also type O+, and he can only receive a a kidney from someone also O+.

Anyone who matches his blood type and wishes to be considered as a donor can visit https://piedmontlivingdonor.org to get more information.
