Mrs. Sara Smith Wood, age 90, of Cedartown,  Ga., passed away on Tuesday evening, October 12, 2021

Mrs. Wood was born on December 19, 1930 in Polk County, a daughter of the late E.C. Smith and the late Ada Sanders Smith.  Prior to retirement, she had worked for Arrow Shirt Manufacturing in Buchanan and later she was employed with the Polk School District working in the Cafeterias. 

She had been a active member of the Young’s Grove Baptist Church  and at the time of her passing, she was the oldest living member. 

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Clyde Wood in 1997, her brothers, Buster Smith, Carl Smith, Jimmy Ray Smith and Nathan Smith; her sister, Helen Stroup and her great granddaughter, Sarah Borders.

Sarah Wood is survived by her son and daughter in law, Wayne & Mary Ann Wood; her daughter & son in law; Sandra & Jerry Timms; grandchildren; Stacy Wood Cash, Missy Borders & Melanie Cape; great grandchildren; Richard Borders and Dylon White; sisters; Delma Wilson and Linda Womack.  A number of nieces and nephews also survive.  

Funeral services for Mrs. Sara Wood will be conducted on Saturday afternoon, October 16, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Lester Litesey Funeral Home with Rev. Butch Tant officiating.  Interment will follow in the Polk Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 16, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Litesey Funeral Home. 

The following Gentlemen will serve as Pallbearers: Shane Smith, Brandon Smith, Dylon White, Mark Collier, Ray Cape and Richard Borders.
