Amanda Gay Overstreet

A woman who blew through the same stop sign twice in one trip remained in custody after a traffic stop yielded drugs, according to reports.

Police arrested Amanda Gay Overstreet on Tuesday morning, June 20 after they initially spotted her blowing through a stop sign on a scooter heading to the Smart Mart convenience store in Rockmart.

The officer followed at first unable to immediately catch up to conduct a traffic stop. After Overstreet got back on the roadway after her she came back out from the store, she blew through the same stop sign at Goodyear at Newcomb Streets, and she made it to Wingfoot Street before being stopped by officers on the scooter.

Reports did not include how they came to find her drugs, but officers did note finding an amount of methamphetamine, a joint, and a glass meth pipe among her possessions during the stop.

Overstreet, 45, of a Pea Ridge Road address in Rockmart, was taken into custody without note of any further incident.

She remained in jail on a trio of felony charges including possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent, and possession of tools for the commission of a crime. She was also being held on a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana.

Overstreet is being held on a $19,000 bond.
