A Polk County Police officer sought warrants against two women who were picked up for stealing a hooded sweatshirt with the word “Police” from the back of a patrol vehicle after giving the two suspects a ride home, according to a report filed over the weekend.

Ausha Lane Tucker, 18, and Nicole Renae Neslein, 24, of both 164 McDowell Road, Rockmart, remained in the Polk County Jail as of this morning with no bond set on a misdemeanor charge of theft by taking for each after the PCPD officer reported his hooded sweatshirt was last seen in the vehicle with the two.

The report stated that Tucker and Neslein were passengers in a vehicle reported stolen and was pulled over by officers at Tri City Pawn in Rockmart on Saturday, April 10. Police stated that the owner of the vehicle didn’t want to press charges, but didn’t want Tucker or Neslein back in his car.

So the officer kindly moved his belongings around and gave the pair a ride back to their McDowell Road residence, and later learned that the hooded sweatshirt he moved to the back seat was missing. He reported the value of the shirt at $35.

The officer reported going back to Tucker’s home the next day to get the sweatshirt back, only to be told that Tucker and Neslein were out. Since he couldn’t find the pair again, he took out warrants for their arrest for misdemeanor theft by taking. Those warrants were served on Sunday, April 11, and the two have been in jail since.

Bond had not yet been set on the misdemeanor charge for either Tucker or Neslein.
