The top students in each high school class – along with STAR students and teachers – gathered to celebrate with a luncheon ahead of graduation ceremonies coming up this weekend.

Top Fivers at CHS and RHS both are headed to college after going eight semesters with the best cumulative averages throughout the course of the year. The STAR program also honors the top two seniors at each school with the best SAT scores.

CHS this year honored Valedictorian Seth Wright, along with Salutatorian Andrew Garcia-Pineda. Third through fifth spots were Abigail Glen, Ava Reaves and Reagan Clarke. The STAR Student this year for the Bulldogs senior class was also Wright, who nominated Jennifer Cupp as the STAR Teacher.

Rockmart’s Mark Blalock is the Valedictorian, and Grayson Simpkins is the Salutatorian for the Yellow Jackets in the Class of 2023. Third through fifth top seniors were Lane Holley, Maddie Owens and Madison Pierce. RHS’s STAR Student this year was Madison Pierce, and she nominated Alyson Firestone as the STAR Teacher.

The annual luncheon this year held at Pizza Farm, where families gathered with the top students from this year’s graduates. They’ll also get a chance to take part in commencement events starting tomorrow evening.

Friday night, Rockmart High School will celebrate its graduates during an 8 p.m. ceremony at the Rock. Following that on Saturday morning, families and friends will gather at 9 a.m. to celebrate the Cedartown High School seniors.
