Sharon Kathleen Jarrell

A woman who was caught by Walmart personnel trying to change tags on more expensive items for cheaper ones was later found with methamphetamine at the Polk County Jail.

Rockmart Police took Sharon Kathleen Jarrell, 34, of 63 Wheeler Road Apt. 2, Rockmart, remained in the Polk County Jail with no bond set on felony drug and a misdemeanor shoplifting charge.

Jarrell was found trying to scan the changed tags by Walmart personnel, who held her in the loss prevention office until police arrived and began investigating the situation. Jarrell was reported to have spontaneously admitted to switching the tags, and asked police if she was going to jail.

Officers searched her belongings to ensure that nothing else was taken, and found more than $1,000 in cash in her wallet. Police thought this might be money from drug sales, but weren’t sure until Jarrell was being booked at the Polk County Jail.

That’s where staff located socks within her bra that contained five different baggies of methamphetamines that weighed out together at 2.4 grams, along with a glass pipe with suspected meth residue within.

“Jarrell stated she forgot the items were in her bra but due to the pipe being there (it) was hard for us to believe,” the report stated.

Police determined that the $1,014 found in Jarrell’s wallet – and based on the number of bags found on her person at the jail – as money made from drug sales and confiscated it, along with the meth itself. It was placed into evidence, along with photos of the items she tried to get at a cheaper price.
