Amy Nichole Crumley

A woman who was initially stopped and was likely going to be given a warning was ultimately arrested for having a stolen pistol, and was found with thousands of dollars in cash and methamphetamine at the Polk County Jail.

According to a Polk County Police report, Amy Nichole Crumley, 36, of 67 Oak Ridge Drive, Aragon, was about to get away with only having to go to the tag office to renew her registration following a traffic stop near Old Cartersville Road and Goodyear Avenue on Friday, March 12 at 12:49 a.m. During the traffic stop, the officer was suspicious after Crumley pulled her license from a green Crown Royal bag that had a large wad of cash inside.

Police did not report how much money was in the bag at the time.

When police began to question her about what potentially might be inside the vehicle, Crumley told officers she had nothing in her possession but when they asked to search she changed her story and said she had a gun on her hip.

Police checked the pistol after taking possession of the firearm and found that it had been reported stolen in Dallas, Georgia, and prompted her arrest. She had told officers she previously was convicted of a methamphetamine possession charge, but had gone through her first offender class when she turned over the Taurus G2 9 mm handgun.

Once under arrest and transported to the jail, police recovered $3,190 in cash that was removed from the waistband of her pants. She was also reported to have pulled out a plastic bag believed to have methamphetamine inside from her bra.

Crumley was booked and ultimately released from the Polk County Jail on a $14,000 bond on felony charges of theft by receiving stolen property, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm or knife during commission or attempt to commit certain felonies, and crossing the state/county guard line with weapons, intoxicants or drugs without consent.
