A wreck at Highway 278 and Barber Road sent drivers of each vehicle to the hospital, according to the Polk County Police around midday.
Polk County Police Chief Kenny Dodd reported that the driver of a passenger car and a F-250 truck pulling a gooseneck trailer collided at the intersection while the passenger car was trying to cross the highway from Bethlehem to Barber Roads at the Cowboys convenience store.
The passenger car struck the truck side on, and ultimately caused the trailer to get stuck on a guard rail.
The driver of the car was taken to Polk Medical Center for treatment, and the driver of the truck was taken to Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome.
Dodd said names of those involved were not yet available.
First responders spent two hours cleaning up wreck, which during the traffic jam saw another wreck occur at Highway 278 and Grady Road. No injuries were reported in the second incident.
