Mrs. Nancy Morris

Mrs. Nancy Jim Morris, age 81, of Cedartown, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, May 10, 2023, after an extended illness.

Mrs. Morris was Born July 2, 1941, the daughter of the late Lewis Harris and Adell Lockridge Kelly.

Mrs. Morris was always known for her love for the Lord and for others. Some summed her up by saying “She loved and was loved.” She was a faithful and dedicated member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church for over fifty years where she taught a couples Sunday School class for quite some time.

She was involved in many other ministries of the church and volunteered in various ways throughout her community. To those in Cedartown, she was most known as the owner of the Best News Christian Book Store. Alongside her daughter Angie, Mrs. Morris dedicated twenty one years of her life to the book store. She was a loving wife to her husband, Mr. James “Jimmy” Morris for sixty five years.

When speaking of their parents, her children say that they set a wonderful example in life and marriage for them. She had a special relationship with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Morris leaves a legacy of steadfast Christian love for all and her impact on the lives of her family members is immeasurable. She lived her life as the embodiment of the scripture, Proverbs 31: 26-28.

“She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.”

Mrs. Morris is preceded in death by her father, Mr. Lewis Harris; mother and stepfather, Adell Lockridge Kelly and E. G. Kelly.

She is survived by her devoted husband, James “Jimmy” Morris; her children: Angie Gravett and her husband, Bobby, of Cedartown, Jamie Morris and his wife, Darcy, of Cedartown, Cindy Kendrick and her husband, Jay, of Grant, Alabama, and Tommy Morris and his wife Hannah, of Cedartown; grandchildren who she dearly loved: Stephanie Radford, Jennifer Garrett and her husband, Chip, Jenny Burch and her husband, Ben, Dan Morris, Camden Kendrick, Bailey Kendrick, Ashleigh Morris, Gage Morris, Harper Morris, Tommie Leigh Morris, and Mackenzie Morris; and three special great grandchildren, Lane Paris (Elizabeth), Jenna Garrett, and Benjen Burch. Additionally, she is survived her sister Nellie Thompson and her husband, Bill, and aunt, Betty Thompson. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy Morris will be held, Sunday, May 14, 2023, in the chapel of the Smith & Miller Funeral Home, at 4:00 PM, with Reverend Bud Davis officiating. A eulogy will be given by her granddaughter, Stephanie Radford. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with Reverend Jimmy Bryant officiating.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Jerry Palmer, Kirkland Jolly, Frank Winkles, Charles Radford, Ivan Ray, and Tim McKelvey.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 2:00 until the funeral hour, at the Smith & Miller Funeral Home.
