Mr. John Paul Cothran, age 86, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020.  He was born on September 15, 1934 in Centre, Alabama.  He was the son of the late William Olus and Willie J. Hampton Cothran.

Mr. Cothran is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edna Anderson Cothran; daughter, Pam Burns (Butch); sons, Johnny Cothran, Jeff Cothran (Lisa) and Mark Cothran (Tonya); sisters, Betty Nunley, Wilma Davis and Frances Pearson; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and other extended family members.  

Mr. Cothran is preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Wendy Cothran; brothers, Kenneth Cothran and Gary Cothran; and great-grandchildren, Jacob Cothran and Abagail Grace.

The funeral arrangements for Mr. John Paul Cothran will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at three o’clock in the afternoon in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Argo and Rev. Joey Davidson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Polk Memory Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Little John Hooper officiating and Full Military Rites conducted by the Rockmart American Legion.

The family of Mr. Cothran will receive family and friends on Sunday, October 17, 2020 from one o’clock in the afternoon until the funeral hour at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Frank Miller, Buster Nunley, Roger Dewberry, Casey Cothran, Jordan Cothran, Joe Henderson, Barry Henderson, and Jerrett Pearson.

In accordance with the guidelines and recommendations set forth by the CDC, social distancing guidelines will be in place as well as the use of masks requested for all services provided for Mr. John Paul Cothran.
