Marie Frances Huston, age 73, of Marietta, GA, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023, two days prior to her birthday.
Marie was born on September 1, 1949, and raised in Athens, GA, daughter of the late Dr. Till and Mrs. Maud Ford Huston.
Following high school, she traveled to France and studied for a period of time before returning to complete her bachelor’s degree at West Georgia College. Marie taught school in Polk County prior to moving to Marietta where she went to work for Austin & Byrd Law Firm in Atlanta, retiring in 2008.
Following retirement, she indulged in many hobbies and was an award-winning quilter, became a self-taught painter, and wrote several books, one of which she was currently in the process of marketing.
Marie loved the arts and Broadway musicals and was a fan of Barry Manilow and Kenny Rogers. She was always collecting new recipes and looking for new restaurants.
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by the father of her children, Mickey Spinks.
Marie is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, Bob Walzcak; children, Kendal Spinks Shepherd (Trent) of Rockmart, GA, and Hunter Spinks of Aragon, GA; grandchildren, Kelsey, Kaylyn, Grace, Will and Braun. She was most excited and anticipated the arrival of her first great-grandchild, Nora, in December.
In keeping with her wishes, Marie will be cremated, and no formal services are planned at this time.
