2 Corinthians 5:1-5, 8
For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands.
We grow weary in our present bodies and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing.
While we live in these earthly bodies we groan and sigh, but it is not that we want to die and get rid of these bodies that clothe us. Rather, we want to put on our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by life.
God Himself has prepared us for this and as a guarantee, He has given us His Holy Spirit.
So we are always confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.
James “Craig” Camp confidently entered into his new body and eternal home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
Craig’s life showed evidence that he had the guarantee of the Holy Spirit. The fruits of the Spirit are peace, love, joy, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Craig bore those fruits as a father, husband, son, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Craig was born, December 15, 1960, in Rockmart, Georgia, son of Hazel Camp and the late James Nathaniel” Nut” Camp.
Craig loved the best things in life; not the material items, but the people and time spent together. He loved riding in old Dodge pickup trucks while listening to Marshall Tucker Band with his daughter.
He loved watching his sons play football and watching football with them. He loved eating hotdogs and Wendy’s chili. He loved introducing his grandchildren to Diet Coke by the age of two. Most of all, he loved sharing the love of Jesus, an unconditional love, with his wife, children, grandchildren, friends, and strangers who became friends.
In addition to his father, Craig was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Cliff Williams.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Amy Camp; children: Kyle Camp and his wife, Lindsay, Kenny Camp and his wife, Kelly, Tyler Camp and his wife, Kierstan, Grayson Camp, Chloe Camp, and Caleb Lester; and grandchildren: Kinleigh, Kylee, Cora, and Addi Mae. Additionally, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Hazel Camp; a sister, Denise Chastain and her husband, Jeff; and mother-in-law, Betty Williams.
Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held, Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at 12:00 in the afternoon with Reverend Brady West and Reverend Danny Tucker officiating. Interment will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Cooter Wright, Kooter Norton, Greg Swafford, Tony Jenkins, Barry Williams, Ted Porterfield, Sean Kiley, and Richard Kile.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 30, 2023, from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour, at Young’s Grove Baptist Church.
