Grand opening includes live music Friday through Sunday at Polk’s new vineyard, Boobadoo BBQ available on Saturday afternoon

Polk County has a few places to get a sip of something nice and fruity at establishments across the area. Pouring beverages from bottles produced outside of the county is routine these days.

Beyond a past involving practices of a bygone era, there hasn’t been anything like the new Paris Mountain Vineyards tucked in the far southern corner of the county on Bollen Road. It’s more than just a producer of grapes and their own flavors of wine, but an experience for those who want more than to pick up a bottle of something locally-made.

Driving up the winding Everett Mountain Road to get you to Paris Mountain Vineyards is worth the trip with the chance to enjoy a scenic view, a good glass of wine and snacks, and plans for weekend entertainment after their grand opening celebrations this weekend.

Owners Scott and Susan Dodson were joined by family, county officials and the Chamber for their ribbon cutting ceremony at noon on Thursday, and will be hosting many more folks this weekend for their grand opening celebration.

Performers will be on hand as the couple show off Polk County’s newest addition: a vineyard that comes with a serving bar area and the opportunity to view the grounds of the new vineyard.

The weekend lineup includes a Friday performance by Noah Sampson from 5 to 8 p.m.

On Saturday, Aspen Lee will be playing from 1 to 4 p.m., followed by Sam Holladay from 5 to 8 p.m. The grand opening on Saturday also features food from Boobadoo BBQ, starting at 1 p.m. until they sell out of what they have available.

Lucas Smith wraps up the weekend celebration for a 2 to 5 p.m. performance on Sunday.

They posted these helpful tips on their Facebook page:

Nine different types of wine – five of those coming from the grapes at Paris Mountain Vineyard – are being served at Paris Mountain, but don’t worry about going away starving. They offer several snack options including a charcuterie, hummus slate, a spinach and artichoke dip and a gourmet snack box.

Wine choices include Reflection & Double Rainbow (chardonnays), Pretty in Pink (a rose), Warrior (a blend with blueberry) and Gem (based on a dry Teroldego grape variety.)

One additional reason to make the trip up Everett Mountain Road and off the pavement to Paris Mountain Vineyard on Bollen Road? This view:

Paris Mountain Vineyards after this opening weekend will operate Mondays and Thursdays from 12 to 8 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 12 to 9 p.m., and Sundays from 12:30 to 6 p.m. They’ll be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The Dodsons got permission in late 2020 to begin work on the new vineyard location on Bollen Road, but the grapevines have been spreading along the trellises making up the rows in the foreground as you enter the property.

They designed their operations to provide private accommodations upstairs and a tasting room, kitchen and the winery downstairs.

Paris Mountain Vineyards grows a French-American hybrid in both red and white varieties. They also run cattle on several acres of the farm winery, one of the newest to grow up in North Georgia over the past decades.

There are some in South Georgia as well, where a few of the wines available at Paris Mountain are also made including a Muscadine wine.
