The temperature and humidity felt off the charts on Thursday evening, July 6 when the crowd gathered in front of Peek Park in Cedartown to watch this year’s edition of the Cedartown Wheelchair 5K.

The event – marking the 20th running overall since the year 2000 when the race began – saw participants from around the globe descend upon the North College Street neighborhood and seek to put up the best time for an already record-breaking course.

However its worth reminding folks that a race isn’t truly fun without an audience. So before transitioning the rest of the coverage over to PolkSportsWire from race day on who won and times, let’s take a look below at the fans young and old who came out to watch (and participate in the Kid’s Fun Run before the official race) in the slideshow and pay tribute to the organizers who bring it all together for a fantastic event.

Check out Polksportswire.com (subscription access required for the slideshow) for additional race day photos and results from Thursday’s race.
