Gerald Glenn Lindsey

A “Good Man” in his 90th year, ascended into heaven. He was healed from his dementia and bone cancer.

Gerald Glenn Lindsey was born July 1, 1933 to the late J.D. and Ruth Chapman Lindsey in the Alexis Community, in Cherokee County, Alabama. After enjoying a typical Alabama Country boyhood with cousins and siblings, his father moved the family across the state line to Cave Spring, Georgia and opened the family business, Lindsey’s Cave Spring Hardware on “Broad Street”.

Gerald, now, had jobs working for his Dad, running a PURE Oil service station and graduating C.S. High School in 1952. Some years later, he went to his Dad and talked with him learning to become a Die Maker. Naturally, Jay gave Gerald his blessings and wished a good future in a successful venture.

This began his next 40 years towards becoming a skilled journeyman die maker and corrector second to none. He began with Dixie Aluminum, M.V. Anderson, Alcon and Profile Extrusion. Afternoons he continued to run Cattle on his farm in Floyd County along the Little Cedar Creek.

Gerald was preceded in death by all his siblings and their wives and husband: Dewell (Martha Kay), Sheldon (Sylbil), Wayne (Mary), Reba Mason (Dennis) and Earlgene Lindsey; 2 nephews, Gary and John Lindsey and step-granddaughter, Lawrey Terry Boyd; step-daughter, Thelma Best Terry; step-son, Larry Best; and Elaine Jones Best (the mother of her children, who called him “Honey” and loved him from the beginning and he them).

Gerald is survived by his wife of 23 years, Reba Dempsey Ciliax. She and Elaine blessed Gerald with Step-Children, DeLona Best (Billy) Simms, Sandra Acker Best, Danny Terry, Pamela (Steve Guthrie), Joni (Rick Nelson); seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. A great loving family!
