Mr. Arnold Houston Matthews, age 86, of Powder Springs, passed away Monday September 25.
Mr. Matthews was born February 18, 1937 in Cherokee County, Alabama, to parents, the late Rev. Roy Lee Matthews, Sr. and the late Mrs. Carrie Dempsey Matthews.
Mr. Matthews worked for over 31 years at the Coca-Cola Company as an assembler before retiring to spend his remaining years with his loving family. Mr. Matthews loved anything outdoors and loved his family with his whole heart.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Matthews is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Mrs. Bonnie A. Matthews; son, David Arnold Matthews; siblings, Hal Franklin Matthews, Muril Maurice Matthews, Boyd Tracy Matthews, Paul Dean Matthews, Nora Merritt, and Sandra Mauldin.
Mr. Matthews is survived by his loving grandchildren, Ashley Lyn Matthews and Caleb Alexander Matthews; brother, Roy Lee Matthews, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Faith Matthews, Grace Matthews, Greer Matthews, Grey Matthews, and Seraphina Brawner; and extended great-grandchildren, Hope and Joy Matthews.
A graveside service for Mr. Matthews will be conducted Sunday October 1, 2023, at the Polk Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the graveside from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM at the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Caleb Matthews, Ashley Matthews, Christopher Wenth, Christopher Motes, Brian Adkins, and Avery Stubbs.
