Mrs. Willie “Dean” William Timms

Mrs. Willie “Dean” Williams Timms, age 91, passed away, Thursday, October 26, 2023.

Mrs. Timms was born January 11, 1932, in Cedartown, Georgia, daughter of the late Leroy Williams and Mae Alexander Williams.

Mrs. Timms was born in Polk County but lived most of her younger years in Haralson County.

She worked at Sewell Suit Plant for a number of years. When she and her husband moved to Cedartown, she went to work for the Arrow Shirt Factory, where she retired after twenty-six years. Dean was very proud to go back to school and earn her GED diploma.

She was an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Fish Creek until recent years when health problems made it difficult to go. She was also a member of the Senior Adult Choir of Polk County. She loved traveling with the choir and singing at various churches. Her health required her to give this up as well.

She loved the Lord, her family, and friends. She enjoyed getting together with her church family for fellowship and eating.

She was a good cook and enjoyed doing so. When she was able, she also enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. She had a real green thumb. She could stick anything in the ground, and it would grow for her. She also enjoyed sewing when able.

Dean loved life and people. We are going to miss her very much.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Mr. John “Bud” Timms; a son, Donnie Timms; daughter, Sylvia Sue Timms Lambert; and brothers, John Williams, Elmer Williams, and Charles Williams.

Mrs. Timms is survived by a granddaughter, Melissa Barnes; grandsons, John Timms, and Derek Timms; several great-grandchildren; and several great great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sisters-in-law.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held, Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the Smith & Miller Funeral Home at 2:00 in the afternoon, with Reverend Greg Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Randy Williams, Derrick Timms, Daniel Barber, Floyd Barber, Dustin Barnes, and John Timms.
