Mr. Wilburn C. Chappell

Mr. Wilburn C. Chappell, age 82, of Taylorsville, GA, passed away Monday evening, December 19, 2022, at his residence.

Mr. Chappell was born in Rockmart, GA, on November 13, 1940, a son of the late Samuel B. Chappell and Elminia Maxwell Chappell.

He had lived the greater part of his life in Taylorsville and was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.

Mr. Chappell was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired from the Clorox Company and after retirement, was a bus driver with Bartow County Schools. Mr. Chappell was an animal lover and enjoyed working on his farm.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Chappell was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth LaNell Chappell, three sisters, Frances Edwards, Josephine Shinall, and Sandra Chappell, and four brothers, Ronald, Jessie Lee, Ralph, and Ray Chappell.

Mr. Chappell is survived by his wife, Jan Chappell, whom he married April 2, 2006; five children, Van (Teresa) Chappell of Taylorsville, Jimmy (Lynette) Chappell of Kingston, GA, Judy (Allen) Black of Taylorsville, Curtis (Meg) Stover of Taylorsville, and Laura Huth of Taylorsville; four sisters, Sarah Cain, Jane Carter, Brenda Copeland, and Sharon Morrow. Eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and sever nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Chappell will be Thursday morning, December 22, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Brent Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Chappell’s family will receive friends Wednesday evening, December 21, 2022, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will include Jamie Abernathy, Jered Holman, Nathan Bailey, Curtis Stover, Cameron Davis, and Gavin Ingram.

Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory has charge of the arrangements for Mr. Wilburn C. Chappell.
