A teen was seriously injured but is recovering after being injured in a Sunday evening shooting in Rockmart, per police officials.
Rockmart Police Chief Randy Turner said the department was unable to still release further details about the suspect at this time, but they remain on the search for the man responsible for injuring the teen.
The 15-year-old male shot on Sunday evening around 6 p.m. at 847 MLK Street in Rockmart is recovering per Turner, but suffered serious internal damage as a result of the shooting.
Officials had attempted to take the teen by helicopter to an area hospital following the shooting, but the storms moving through the area at the time forced an emergency transport by ambulance to Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center in Rome.
Rockmart Police have reported that they believe the incident was related to an April shooting involving two groups fighting during an incident on Fairview Road near Morgan Street in April.
