No foul play is suspected in the death of a homeless man whose body was found in February and sent to the GBI Crime Lab for autopsy, but a cause is still to be determined.
Polk County Coroner Norman Smith confirmed that Charles “Chuck” Warner, 64, of Cedartown, was the man found on Monday, February 19 near Dollar General Market on North Main Street in a wooded area.
Smith said the GBI Crime Lab is awaiting results of toxicology to determine his cause of death, but for now it appears there is no foul play involved in his death.
A U.S. Navy veteran and a native of Iowa, Warner grew up in his home state and moved to Cedartown during his youth, later graduating from Cedartown High School and serving his nation before coming home to work for the HON Company and later as a mechanic for Polk County.
His body was one of two homeless men found within a week in the Cedartown area. Anthony Hale, 58, was found in the area of Irwin Street just outside the city limits on February 13.
