Earlier this week around lunchtime, Stephanie Clark and her daughter were out enjoying the swings at the new playground at Nathan Dean Sports Complex.

It was warm out, so Clark and her three-year-old had the run of the place to themselves. And there are plenty of things to do already as the first phase of the new playground is completed.

Last week, the city announced that the new equipment was ready for kids to play on, and during that posting this site posted some photos of work-in-progress of much of the new equipment already up.

Fortunately, the opportunity presented itself on Monday to stop in and grab additional photos and say hello to the happy family enjoying the space.

Here’s a look at what the new equipment looks like in Rockmart:

City officials don’t yet have a tentative date of when benches and additional equipment are supposed to arrive to complete Phase II of the playground construction.

Plans do include benches for parents to use to sit, and discussions are underway about a pavilion or covered area for shade as well.

A concrete pad to allow access in all weather to the playground was also completed before opening.
