Mrs. Sudie Mae Cumbaa

Mrs. Sudie Mae Cumbaa, age 86, of Cedartown, GA, passed away Monday, May 1, 2023.

Mrs. Cumbaa was born in Draketown, GA, on April 25, 1937, a daughter of the late James Thomas Duncan and Lottie Redden Duncan.

She had lived the greater part of her life in Polk County and was retired from Shaw Industries of Dallas, GA. Mrs. Cumbaa was a member of the Church of God of Silver Creek and Esom Hill. She enjoyed singing, attending camp meetings, and loved her family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cumbaa was preceded in death by her first husband, C.W. Jacobs, and her second husband, Carl Cumbaa, Sr. Also preceding her were her daughters, Effie Louise Messick, Hellen Jenette Letson, and Brenda Lee Smith; grandchildren, Christopher Lamar Proctor, Randall Scott Messick, James Matthew Messick, Robbie Lynn Letson, and Ashley Nicole Proctor; great-grandson, Baby Hoskins; brothers, R.C. Duncan, Marvin Duncan, Johnny Duncan, Raymond Duncan, Jimmy Duncan, J.W. Duncan, and Claudie Duncan; twin sister, Ludie Marie Busby.

Mrs. Cumbaa is survived by her children Richard Jacobs, Charles Jacobs, Lillie Jacobs Proctor, Lisa Jacobs Smith, and Donald Jacobs; sisters, Rubby Redden, Janie Duncan, and Nancy Babb; brothers, Randy Duncan and Benny Duncan. Twenty-eight grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cumbaa will be Wednesday afternoon, May 3, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Lawson, Rev. Dennis Morgan and Rev. Ronnie Kirpatrick officiating. Interment will follow in Live Oak Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Cumbaa’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Steven Redden, Chris Duncan, Danny Busby, Lee Duncan, Evan Smith, and Stephen Gibbs.

Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory has charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Sudie Mae Cumbaa.
