Looking for something different and delicious in Cedartown? Check out the newly opened Soul Whiz Catering on Gibson Street after they’ve opened their doors this month to serve Polk County.

Owner Tamara Wofford, family and friends gathered with Cedartown officials and the Chamber for a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony at their location at 414 E. Gibson St. on Thursday morning, June 8.

Wofford is a Cedartown native who learned her techniques from the GNTC culinary school at the Floyd County campus. She’s working with her family to bring a variety of familiar favorites from kitchens across the south with a gourmet flavor to her menu, with additional culinary delights unexpected from your regular dinner table staples.

“I like southern home food style cooking, and we don’t have too much of that around here so that’s what I do,” Wofford said. “We specialize in gourmet comfort food, and we also do cuisines.”

For Wofford and family, food is not just a meal but a passion. Her daughter is working as pastry chef in the restaurant as well, bringing to life items like Cinnamon Bun cupcakes available for sale. (See below. I’ll be back for one… -KtE)

Though Wofford wanted to start off in a food truck, the opportunity to open on Gibson Street came up and she couldn’t resist.

“It’s in a perfect area, and it has the opportunity to also bring the community back together,” she said.

Those who want to place an order by phone can call 678-822-2682. Wofford said she is considering online ordering as a possibility in the near future, but it is not yet available.
