Rosa (Rose) Lee Flatt Fox, age 93, of Rome, GA, devoted Christian, wife, mom, and ma, passed away Monday, July 31, 2023, at Brookdale Senior Living.
Mrs. Fox was born in Jackson County, TN, on March 19, 1930, the oldest of eight children of the late Benton Madison Flatt and Cleo Ann Way Flatt. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
She and her husband, Leonard, along with their children, moved to Rome in 1962. Mrs. Fox had a short stint in retail and as a substitute teacher in the Floyd County School. Mostly, she was a housewife and a wonderful cook, especially known for her biscuits and homemade pickles. Mrs. Fox enjoyed quilting and sewing and reading her Bible.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fox was preceded in death by the love of her life, Leonard Fox, on January 22, 2010, whom she married April 10, 1948. Five brothers, Leamon Flatt, Bill Flatt, Don Flat, Dow Flatt, and Ken Flatt also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Fox is survived by two daughters, Vonda (Zack) Waters of Rome, and Vicki (Barry) Johnson of Huntsville, AL; two sons, Leonard (Debbie) Fox, Jr. of Rome, and Jeff (Ruth) Fox of Nashville, TN; eight grandchildren, Kristen (Joey) Haynes, Ryan (Lindsey) Fox, Luke (Amy) Waters, Jacob (Melanie) Fox, Jessie (David) Herren, Lauren Waters, Jenna (Clark) Tomberlin, and the late Jeffrey Johnson; thirteen great-grandchildren, Sadie, Sam, Griffin, Bailey, Noah, Andrew, Thomas, Hudson, Maddie, Dean, Sanders, and Miller; two sisters, Linda Anderson of Gainesboro, TN, and Wanda Crabtree of Smithville, TN. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Fox will be held Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Minister Jimmy Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens of Rome.
Mrs. Fox’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and include Ryan Fox, Luke Waters, Jacob Fox, David Herren, Clark Tomberlin and Joey Haynes.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial gifts be made in memory of Mrs. Fox to the Union Hill-Flatt Cemetery Fund, c/o Joyce Pippin, 844 Union Ridge Lane, Bloomington Springs, TN, 38545.
