Make sure to be at The Depot at Richardson Field this evening for the 2023 Rockmart Mayor’s Race Candidate Forum, set to start at 6 p.m.

Candidates have been invited to join in and answer questions submitted from the public during the Monday event. Those include Cooley Austin, James Payne and Sherman Ross.

It is the only contested race in the City of Rockmart, so they will be the only candidates who have been invited to participate.

Five questions have been chosen for the event, and candidates will be given 2 minutes and 30 seconds to answer each one. Each candidate is also being given the chance to provide an introductory and closing statement during the event.

Atrium Health Floyd’s Daniel Bevels, also the Chamber of Commerce’s Board Chair, will be moderating the forum.

Those who are unable to attend will be able to watch the Candidate Forum after the fact here on Polktoday.com free of charge.

Audience members are asked to please refrain from outbursts or shouting questions from the crowd since the event will be recorded for others to enjoy who were unable to watch in person.

Voters in Rockmart are able to begin heading to the polls for early voting today not only for the Mayor’s race, but also for voting on the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax extension on this year’s ballot.

The Nathan Dean Community Center at 605 Goodyear Ave., Rockmart, is hosting early voting along with voters within the precinct boundaries for Election Day 2023 in November.
