The first legal bottle of liquor was sold in Rockmart this morning with the ribbon cut and the doors open at Rock Market Beverage.
Mark the day of Tuesday, August 8, 2023 as the day Rock Market Beverage sold their first bottle to the public as officials gathered ahead of the doors opening for a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Polk County Chamber of Commerce.
Owner Clint Brock began the journey to open the first liquor store allowed within the city limits in early 2022 when he applied for the lottery to get one of two licenses allowed.
After getting approval to build in Summer 2022, work began in January and finished up in mid-July.
The first purchase went to Rockmart City Council Member Mike Bradley, who grabbed a bottle of Red Stag by Jim Beam from the store. He shared the above photo with Polk Today commemorating the sale.
Rock Market Beverage is located at 2039 Etowah Drive, Rockmart.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 12:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays. A drive thru window is available to customers during operating hours.
