A woman accused to stealing a man’s money was later found with the cash at the Polk County Jail hiding within her privates, according to police reports.
Police arrested Tammy Denise Helton, 54, of an Aragon address, who also goes by Tammy Waddell according to the report, after she attempted to walk away when officers arrived to take a report about the missing money on Saturday, November 25.
Helton was taken into custody after she tried to walk toward her home, and due to wearing tight pants they thought she had nothing on her person.
Police asked the victim of the stolen funds if they wanted to press charges, but they declined. The victim told police that the cash went missing while Helton was at their residence and only wanted the money back – $600 in cash in $100 bills.
Once in custody at the jail, Helton was searched and found with a small amount of methamphetamine in her pocket. Another more thorough search found the missing money, which Helton hid in her privates and was found when a strip search was conducted.
Police did note that Helton was now going by the last name “Waddell,” even though it was not her legal name.
Helton remained in custody as of this posting on a $9,000 bond on felony and misdemeanor charges.
Those include possession of methamphetamine, crossing the state/county guard line with weapons, intoxicants, drugs without consent and two counts of obstructing law enforcement officers.
