Felicia Fortune

A woman initially didn’t want to go to jail on a probation warrant, but ended up staying there after she was found with drugs while being searched at the jail after her arrest early Sunday morning, according to Polk County Police reports.

Two officers were on patrol early Sunday morning in Cedartown when they spotted a woman they identified as Felicia Fortune, 47, of a Cedartown address, going into American Dream Convenience around 2:15 a.m.

Per the report, she was known to have a probation warrant out for her arrest so they pulled into the store, went inside and approached her at the counter while she was making a purchase. They told her to finish checking out, and then told her she was under arrest on the warrant.

Fortune, who questioned why she was being arrested, refused when officers told her to turn around and put her hands behind her back.

“I told her several time to stop resisting, but she ignored this,” the reporting officer noted. “She began trying to step away from us, as if she were trying to run away to prevent being arrested.”

Officers got handcuffs on her before she could bolt, had her searched by a female officer and took her onward to the Polk County Jail for booking on the warrant.

While being searched, police located an unspecified amount of methamphetamine in her bra.

She remained in custody with her bond denied on felony charges of crossing state/county guard lines with weapons, intoxicants, drugs without consent; possession of methamphetamine and the probation violation charge. She faced an additional misdemeanor charge of obstructing law enforcement officers.
