Mr. Paul Ray Shiflett, age 89, of Silver Creek, GA, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 16, 2023, at his residence.
Mr. Shiflett was born in Silver Creek on June 23, 1934, son of the late Carl Preston Shiflett and Rosa Smith Shiflett. He had lived the greater part of his life in Silver Creek and Rockmart and was a member of Second Baptist Church.
He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. Mr. Shiflett enjoyed working on cars, tinkering and gardening. He loved spending time with family and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Shiflett was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Virginia “Jenny” Smith; seven siblings, Albert, Herbert, Willard and Melvin Shiflett, Betty Kelley, Helen Sanford, and Frances Adams.
Mr. Shiflett is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and James Wells of Silver Creek, Paula and Ricky Cook of Cedartown, GA, and Angie Hindmon of Silver Creek; six grandchildren, Ricky (Miranda) Atkins, Shane (Hope) Atkins, Sabrina (Ryan) Atkins, Jeremy (Stephanie) Dysart, Jessica (Sean) Dabbs, and Ericka (Justin) Goode. Nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Shiflett will be Sunday afternoon, November 19, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Bray officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.
Mr. Shiflett’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
Pallbearers will include Jeremy Dysart, Ricky Atkins, Shane Atkins, Justin Goode, McKoy Atkins and Austin Atkins.
