There was plenty for families to enjoy at this year’s opening night of the Polk County Fair, from honoring pageant winners to those getting ready for this evening’s livestock competition.

The fairgrounds opened on Wednesday, September 6 for the 2023 Polk County Fair to the fanfare of bright lights on rides and the shouts of carnival barkers. The perfect scene for families bringing their kids out for Polk School District night since many kids went home with smiles on their faces and carrying their prizes away with stuffed animals.

The fair continues this evening with the promotion for Senior Night, and those who want to get in early can enjoy the Goat Show at 5 p.m. in the Livestock exhibition arena, followed by the Lamb show.

Additionally, Betting on the Mule will be taking the main stage at 8 p.m.

Here’s some additional reminders for fairgoers:

Address: 1604 Fairgrounds Rd, Cedartown, GA 30125 (turn off of the Highway 27 bypass to get in, or in front of the Det. Kristen Hearne Public Safety Complex signage and follow the road to the right and uphill. You won’t miss it from there…)

Cost to get in: Fair entry is $5 for adults and $3 for children throughout each day of the fair.

Dates and times: Hours are Wednesday and Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 5 to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m.

What about the rides?: Ride armbands are $25 for Wednesday and Thursday, and $30 for Friday through Sunday.

Promotions: The Thursday night promotion provides free admission for senior citizens, and on Saturday the fair provides free admission for veterans and first responders.
