Mrs. Mary Carolyn West, age 86, of Rockmart, GA, passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021.
She was born in Plains, GA on November 2, 1935 a daughter of the late Appling Dwight Mitchell, Sr. and the late Mary Ethel Speer Mitchell.
Carolyn had been a resident of Rockmart since 1960 moving here from Douglasville. She was a member of the Rockmart Church of Christ. Carolyn enjoyed gardening, reading and working puzzles.
She was a former employee of the Polk School System, later working for Berry College as a training counselor and retired as a mental health counselor with the State of Georgia.
She also volunteered for several years with Life Choices Pregnancy Care Center.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Estell Mitchell and by her brother Appling Dwight Mitchell, Jr. and a son in law Lee Baines.
She is survived by her two daughters: Lynn West Baines of Rockmart and Patricia Ann (Patty) West Osmer of Gurley, AL; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a niece and a number of great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 20, 2021 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Steve Miller & Minister Justin Mason officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 12 noon until the funeral hour.
