Mr. James Alton “Jimmy” Smith

Mr. James Alton “Jimmy” Smith, age 77, of Aragon, GA passed away Thursday, October 1, 2020.

Mr. Smith was born in Taylorsville, GA on June 13, 1943, a son of the late Howard Martin Smith and the late Mildred Knowles Smith. Jimmy had lived the greater part of his life in the Taylorsville and Aragon area. He had a love for gardening and enjoyed fishing and cooking. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jimmy was of the Baptist faith and was retired from Ford Motor Company after many years of service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Jerry and Larry Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Camp Smith, of Aragon, to whom he was married on June 20, 1994; five children: Dwight Smith (Tiffany), Aragon, Melissa Bishop (Allen), Aragon, Dwayne Smith (Trenna), Aragon, Kevin Smith (B.J.), Rockmart, and Tonya Manning, Aragon; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, two brothers: Roy Smith (Diane), Aragon and Ronald Smith (Connie), Dallas; sister, Debra Rouse (Dan), Powder Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Deems and Rev. Colt Deems officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Hunter Smith, Koty Smith, Brady Smith, Lebron Smith, Dylan Smith, Chase Clemons, Hunter Forsyth, and Kyle Kitchen.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Social distancing guidelines will be followed facial coverings are required.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements for Mr. James Alton ” Jimmy” Smith.
