A man on a bicycle was airlifted for treatment after he was struck by a train while attempting to cross the railroad tracks on his bicycle in the middle of the night on Piedmont Avenue, according to police.
Chief Randy Turner reported that Joseph Ledford was taken by Life Flight to (edit) Grady Memorial Hospital after he was struck by a train while he was on his bicycle near Pizza Depot on Piedmont Avenue around 12:30 a.m.
“He attempted to cross the tracks while the train was coming,” Turner reported.
He said that Ledford remains in critical condition following the incident.
