It’s time to bring the kids out around the lake for a day of fishing in Polk County in June as an annual event returns to bring family fun for all to enjoy free of charge.

The Kids Fishing Rodeo put on by local Department of Natural Resources officers with the help of a number of organizations returns on June 10 to Kenview Farms just outside of Rockmart off Highway 113.

The June 10 event is being held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Anyone 15 and under will be allowed to dip their lines into the Kenview Farms lake for the event.

Additionally, there will be free refreshments throughout the morning and early afternoon, hourly drawings of prizes, and free t-shirts for the first 500 kids who come out for the event.

Only one rod per child is allowed. No minnows can be used at all during the event. There is an 8 fish limit per line.

Donations for the event have come in from GFL Environmental, Birchfield Photography, Rockmart Walmart, Cedartown Home Depot, On The Spot Locksmith, and others.

Blueberry Farm at Hills Creek is one of this year’s newest sponsors as well.
