Mrs. Joyce Delira Coffman Couey, age 86 of Cedartown, Georgia passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023. She was born on August 18, 1936 in Cedartown, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Joe and Estelle Willingham Coffman.
Mrs. Couey was a graduate of Cedartown High School. She was a member of Anna Kresge United Methodist Church for many years and later Pine Bower Baptist Church. Mrs. Couey was previously employed by Gulf Oil Company in Cedartown and Polk County Farm Bureau.
She was a loving mother and wife who enjoyed reading, sewing and socializing with friends and family. Some of her favorite things included watching western and Hallmark movies, her dog, Sherlock, and going places with her family. One of her proudest accomplishments was becoming a grandmother and great grandmother.
Mrs. Couey cared for all her grandchildren and loved doing crafts with them and teaching them new skills such as painting and working puzzles with them. Mrs. Couey was loved by many and will be dearly missed by family and friends alike.
Mrs. Couey is survived by her sons, James Todd Couey (Rhonda) and TJ Couey (Teresa); daughters, Kathy Miller (Derek) and Kena Greenway (Eddy); grandchildren, Savannah Couey Payne (Cody), Sydney Greenway McBurnett (Dylan), Hunter Couey and Khloe Couey and great-grandchild, James Maddox McBurnett.
Mrs. Couey is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Couey; brother, Glen Jack Coffman and sister, Eveline Garner.
A graveside service for Mrs. Joyce Delira Coffman Couey will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at four o’clock in the afternoon in the Northview Cemetery with Rev. Jason Slaughter officiating.
The family of Mrs. Couey will receive family and friends on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from two o’clock in the afternoon until the funeral hour at the Gammage Funeral Home.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; Todd Couey, TJ Couey, Eddy Greenway, Rick Garner, Hunter Couey, and Derek Miller. James Maddox McBurnett will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
