Mr. John Clifton Leggett, age 77 of Rockmart, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2023.
Mr. Leggett was born April 19, 1945 in Paulding County, son of the late Roy Leggett and the late Martha Maranda Powers Leggett.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a self-employed landscaper. John enjoyed hunting and gardening, but loved his yard and took pride in his work and was an avid outdoorsman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Tyler Woods; a son-in-law, Jimmy F. Woods; and brother, Thomas “Tommy” Leggett.
He is survived by three daughters, Malinda Woods of Taylorsville, Melanie (Parris) Hitchcock of Aragon and Lana (John) Larkin of Rockmart; four sisters, Patsy McCart, Bonnie Sue Powers, Bonnie Kendra Gregory, Raeann LaJaunie Hensley; four grandchildren, Jessica Woods Caverly, Jacob “Jake” Larkin, Hanna Hitchcock Wright and Nicholas “Nick” Larkin; and four great-grandchildren, Olivia Grace Caverly, Brooks Joshua Caverly, Zoey Jade Larkin and Ava James Larkin.
Funeral services for Mr. Leggett will be held Friday, February 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Tibbitts officiating. Interment service will follow in Paulding Memorial Gardens with American Legion Brown-Wright Post 12 Honor Guard in charge of military graveside rites.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Parris Hitchcock, Matt Wright, Aubrey Caverly, Jacob “Jake” Larkin, Nicholas “Nick” Larkin and Dave Clark.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, February 23, 2023 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.
