Mr. James Clifford Turner, age 80, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Saturday evening, November 18, 2023, at his residence.
James was born in Rockmart on May 2, 1943, son of the late Clifford Turner and Christine Head Turner. He lived all his life in Rockmart and was a graduate of Rockmart High School class of 1961. James was a member of the Rockmart High School football team and continued to support the football team throughout his life.
He retired from the General Motors Doraville Plant after 43 years. In his free time, James enjoyed spending time with his family, watching all of his grandchildren’s sports, watching Georgia football, rabbit hunting with friends, and keeping his yard pristine.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Mike Turner.
Mr. Turner is survived by his wife of 61 years, Andrea Abernathy Turner, whom he married June 9, 1962; daughter Lisa Sisson and her husband, Hubert; grandchildren, Amber Fuqua (Chad), Autumn Akins, and Benji Akins; great-grandchildren, Audrey Anna Fuqua, Colby Fuqua, and Kai Tran; brothers, Steve Turner, and Amos Turner; sister, Bonnie Campbell. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon, November 22, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Jesse Barber and Shane Petty officiating.
Mr. Turner’s family will receive friends Wednesday at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until the service hour.
