Mr. James Charles “J.C.” Rayburn

Mr. James Charles “J.C.” Rayburn, age 84, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Monday, October 23, 2023, at his residence.

Mr. Rayburn was born in Rockmart on September 19, 1939, a son of the late Ollie S. Rayburn and Gertrude Caldwell Rayburn. He had lived the greater part of his life in Rockmart and was a member of Aragon Baptist Church.

Mr. Rayburn was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Davitte Lodge #513 F&AM. Following his retirement from the Ford Motor Company he could be found on a golf course, enjoying his time with friends. Mr. Rayburn was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Rayburn was preceded in death by four brothers, Jack, Audie “Snookum”, Frank and Joe Rayburn, and three sisters, Grace Dunaway, Clora Campbell, and Barbara Childers.

Mr. Rayburn is survived by his loving wife, Betty Willingham Rayburn; daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Johnny Moates of Rockmart; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Stacey Rayburn of Marietta, GA, and Chris and Brenda Rayburn of Augusta, GA; sister, Teresa Smith of Rockmart; three brothers, Doug Rayburn and Delmar Rayburn, both of Aragon, GA, and Randy Rayburn of Rockmart. Seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Rayburn will be Thursday afternoon, October 26, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Purser officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens with Brown-Wright Post 12 of the American Legion Honor Guard conferring military Honors.

Mr. Rayburn’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Ray Rayburn, Jake Moates, Johnny Moates, Gary Rayburn, Chris Rayburn and Jarek Rayburn.

Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory has charge of the arrangements for Mr. James Charles “J.C.” Rayburn.
