Mr. Hoyt Jesse Parris, age 78, of Rockmart, GA, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 following a brief illness with his loving family at his bedside.
Mr. Parris was born on June 21, 1944 in Floyd County to his parents the late William H. and Ophelia Parris.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Sally “Pat” Wright Parris; a son, John Parris; two brothers, Loyd Parris and William Parris; and a sister, Joyce Shuman.
Mr. Parris loved his family, his friends and his Church family.
A devoted Christian, he was a member and Deacon of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Rockmart, Georgia and also served as the Chairman of the Board at Pleasant Hill. He loved singing Christian songs and was also a member and Singer with the Adult Senior Choir.
He was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather who enjoyed NASCAR, fishing on Lake Weiss, and watching his Hummingbirds.
He is survived by his family, his son, Greg Parris; his grandchildren, Patrick, Christopher, Ashley, Tyler, and Jeffery; his great-grandchildren, Hoyt, Roen, Hannah, Mason, McKenzie, and Cade; his brothers and sisters, Geneva Berry, Fay Rudeseal, Carolyn and Gene Speicher, Reba and Ray Swafford, Rev. Roger and Lynn Parris and Cathy Ogle; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
In accordance with his wishes Mr. Parris was cremated and a Celebration of Life Service will be conducted on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Rockmart with the Rev. Roger Parris officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
