Hershel Henry Talton

Hershel Henry Talton passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 15th at WellStar Paulding Hospital.

He was 78 and married to Dorothy Talton for 52 years and was a member of the Yorkville Community in Rockmart, GA.

Hershel was born at home in the Clarkston community on March 26, 1945 in Decatur, GA to John Clinton Talton Sr. and wife Connie Fay Pearson Talton. He was a graduate of Tucker High School, Class of 1963.

He was a glazier for most of his life at PPG and Sunbelt Glass. As a glazier by trade and a field superintendent, he has left his heavy commercial work across the southeast. He enjoyed NASCAR, football, country music, fishing, and hunting.

He is a Christian and use to always say when he passed away that he would be up there waiting for us; sitting on a bank under a tree, fishing with his toe in the water.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, John Talton Jr., his sisters, Nandra Talton and Vickie Callaway, brothers-in-law, Allen McGee, Charles Ford, and nephew, Chris Ford.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Talton, daughter Heather Talton, son and daughter-in-law Chad and Amy Talton, and grandchildren Ryan and Kathryn Talton, sisters, Dorann McGee, and Barbara Ford, sister-in-law Patti Talton, brother-in-law David Callaway, and nieces and nephews.

He was selfless and always put the needs of others before his own. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family. We always loved going to the beach and having good times together. We will miss his smile, laughter, love, thoughtfulness, encouragement, and wisdom. He was a good man who will continue to be loved and dearly missed.

The family will receive friends for the viewing on Sunday, June 18, 2023 from 1:00pm-2:30pm at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home. The procession will follow, where there will be a graveside service at the Yorkville Memorial Gardens at 3:00pm. Rev. David Warriner will be reading scripture to provide love and comfort for family and friends.

We would like to thank the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home for serving our family during this time.
