Mr. Gordon Lee Kellett, age 86, of Rome, GA, a former resident of Rockmart, GA, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023, at his residence.
Gordon was born in Summerville, GA, on October 28, 1936, a son of the late Carl Kellett and Luna Ramsey Kellett.
He had been a resident of Rockmart since 1959, and a former member of Second Baptist Church of Rockmart. Gordon had been a very active member of Rockmart First United Methodist Church. He was an insurance agent for United of America Insurance Company, later Great American Reserve, retiring after 30 years. Following retirement, Gordon was associated with Publix Foods. He enjoyed woodcarving, especially carving birds.
In addition to his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by his wife, Lavonia Whitehead Kellett, on March 14, 2013, and four sisters and three brothers.
Gordon is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Lee and Glen Hollingshed of Dallas, GA, Marie Moncus of Columbus, GA, and Margaret and John Digiacomo of Dallas; five grandchildren, Robert Armstrong, Amanda Moncus, J. Moncus, John Loch, and Joseph Loch.
Funeral services for Gordon will be Friday, June 9, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Rockmart First United Methodist Church with Rev. Edward Murrey and Rev. Joey Davidson officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.
Gordon’s family will receive friends at the church Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
Grandsons and sons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Rockmart First United Methodist Church.
