There’s all kinds of fun happening as today marks the opening of the autumn season in Polk County, and the weather is going to be perfect for the start of fall.

Temperatures are only getting into the mid-80s and will remain sunny throughout the day, and dip down into the mid-50s overnight as the National Weather Service calls for the exact same forecast through Sunday and Monday. Chances of rain returns on Tuesday and Wednesday coming up.

As for those events today, make sure to head to Big Spring Park in Cedartown on Wissahickon Avenue for the Holloway Hunny Pot Festival, which includes a number of vendors, tributes to Sterling Holloway in the Women’s Building, and the annual Pooh stick race down the Big Spring channel happening today. Festivities start at 10 a.m. and close out at 3 p.m.

The big event this weekend is the Aragon BBQ, which is taking place at Pittman Field in Aragon just off Highway 101 in east Polk County.

43 different vendors with everything from cake pops to Christmas ornaments for sale, plus live music, food and the annual softball tournament. The annual event will cap off tonight with a fireworks show. Today’s fun kicks off at 10 a.m.

Cedartown’s Kiwanis Club is also hosting their first ever tennis tournament today, beginning at 10 a.m.

The Families in Recovery Appreciation Day kicks off this afternoon at 4 p.m. at Mosaic Place in Cedartown.
