Mrs. Dorothy Ruth Stubbs Garner, age 75 of Cedartown, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022.
She was born August 17, 1946 in Cedartown, daughter of the late John Stubbs and the late Ruth Gowens Stubbs. Mrs. Garner retired from Shaw Industries and was a member of the Piedmont Ave. Baptist Church. She loved flowers and wildlife, but had a special love for her grandchildren and her church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Franklin Garner, Sr. on December 9, 2014; daughter, Catherine Christine Elizabeth York; son, Richard Franklin Garner, Jr.; and a brother, Leonard Stubbs.
Survivors include three sons, Jimmy (Heather) Garner of Douglasville, Jack (Brenda) Garner of Cedartown and Joey (Lea) Garner of Cedartown; four sisters, Carolyn Bentley, Shirley Kyles, Mary Jane Money and Diane (Edward) Lackey all of Cedartown; brother, David (Rose) Stubbs of Warner Robbins; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Garner will be held Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Davidson officiating. Interment will follow in the New Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Piedmont Ave. Baptist Church, 622 N. Piedmont Ave., Rockmart, GA 30153 in memory of Mrs. Garner.
