Ferst Readers are going to put books in the hands of another 27 youth from Polk County thanks to a recent donation.

The Walmart in Rockmart provided a $1,150 grant to Ferst Readers of Polk County in recent days.

Patty Rogers from Ferst Readers provided the following from the organization:

“We appreciate your love and support of community and look forward to visiting the store in June! Thanks especially to Shannon, store manager, and Heather, book lover, for choosing Ferst Readers!”

Ferst Readers of Polk County is the local chapter of a nationwide organization that provides youth from birth to 5 years old the opportunity to get books delivered monthly to their home free of charge. A donation of less than $50 provides at child a book a month for a year, helping increase the literacy rate of youth and forms permanent appreciation for reading by parents sharing stories with their children.
