A local business open for the past four years in Rockmart is now looking for a new home after a Saturday fire forced them out of their home on Prospect Road.

Custom Clouds Vape Shop in Rockmart was the scene of a structure fire on Saturday around 4 p.m. that Polk County Fire-Rescue responded to along with other units, and found the shop fully involved in smoke and flames, along with Rockmart Fire and Rescue.

Firefighters were forced out of the structure due to the potential for the roof to collapse, but fortunately the flames were knocked back and under control around 5:15 p.m.

The fire did not cause any injuries, but it did damage and forced Custom Clouds out of their space and owner John Hughes to open back up in the parking lot out front of the now damaged storefront.

The fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

“We’re unsure of what happened, but we believe it started outside of the building,” he said.

They are currently operating in the parking lot from 12 to 7 p.m. during their normal hours.

“we were able to save a lot of stock which is good,” Hughes said. “But we’re selling it off at a discount.”

Custom Clouds has been open in Rockmart since 2019, and they are hoping to find a new spot to open.

“We hope to be back in as soon as possible, and we thank everyone for their support we get started on the hard work of rebuilding,” Hughes said.
